I used my 2.2 jailbroken iPod since it's firmware released and the wifi had no problems. Starting late January, every time I turn on my wifi to do something it would start off with 3 bars on the wifi icon. But when I download a podcast or something (use safari, anything), it would download perfectly for a few seconds, then drop to 1 bar. Eventually, it completely drops me out. I am clueless on how to fix this but if you can help me out, it would be great.

Here are some factors that might be the problem but I highly doubt it:
-Some say the 2.2 firmware has wifi bugs. (I've been using the same firmware since it was released and had no problems)
-Interference with other devices (I don't have any wireless devices that could interfer)
-There was this one time I downloaded like 100 podcasts at once on my iPod (could the iPod's wifi chip handle that much or did I fry it???

Downloading a zillions podcasts has nothing to do with it, if ur battery lasts that long

Why, u always run the same test with different access point, so is a prob with your touch or the AP/environment. U don't have any other WIFI devices, but your neighbours may got plenty.

Yeah, I was thinking of that too but my neighbors are "old-fashion" and use old technology. (no wireless phones and stuff). But I will try it at a library or something next time.
