I'm trying to get the word out about a challenge that Nike has that allows you to donate the miles you log on the nikeplus website to the Leukemia and Lympoma society. I am raising funds for LLS this fall - participating as a member in the team in training for the Arizona Rock and Roll half marathon in January (my husband was diagnosed with leukemia last year).
here's more info ... please consider joining this challenge:
Join the 15,000 women already running for the cause. For every mile you and your friends across the country run and log at nikeplus.com, Nike will donate $1 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Every mile makes a difference in the fight against blood cancers. Help us achieve our goal of $50,000 by race day on Oct 22nd. Yet another reason why running is good for you.
I think anyone is eligible for this fundraising effort because the site says that friends and family can log their miles ...
The actual race itself is only for women ... its kind of neat .. once the ladies finish they are greeted by men in tuxes with a box from Tiffany's (well, I guess neat if you are a female runner like me ;-)
I am a beginner marathoner in training, looking for some others for a challenge in October, complete the most miles. I am setting up the challenge tonight or tomorrow am at the latest. Will limit to 10-15 people.
Please let me know if you want an invite. You can email me at [email protected] if you want to participate.
I also started a challenge for October. Have 37 invitees, and about 20 responded so far. Most Miles in October -- the RACE FOR HALLOWEEN. If you are interested, email me at [email protected]
The group is a good mix of young, old, walkers, marathon trainers. Nike limits to 50, so there are some slots left.
I've been invited to another challenge, but having trouble getting accepted. I clicked to the link to the Nike site -- it logs me in. Then nothing...doesn't seem to be a way to accept the challenge. Anyone else having trouble with that?
