I was transferring all of my apps, after a factory restore, but the transfer stalled out so I had to cancel it. For some reason, my ipod now has the same amount of gigs labeled as "other" (apps 2 gigs, other 2 gigs). I assuming these files were data my ipod was going to transfer to itunes. Is there a way to delete these files manually? I can't seem to get rid of these files through a sync or a successful transfer. It is taking up quite a bit of gigabytes.

Thank you.

P.S. I don't have a backup because I had to turn it off (backup was stalling for days). I would really love to avoid a factory reset, if at all possible.

4th gen, ipod touch 4.1

Not possible. When iTunes reports on usage (Music, Movies, Photos, Other, etc.) it's just reading the iPod's internal database of what's stored where. In the case of Other, the iPod has no idea what that stuff is -- it knows that data is taking up space, but it doesn't know what the data is for. The only way to clear out Other is to restore the iPod.

Thank you for your reply. Is there a way to save how I have my folders set up? I would hate to have to rearrage everything again?

Make a backup. The bigger underlying issue here is that iTunes was stalling during your iPod's backup procedure. You want it to create a backup of your iPod as that makes the whole restoration process, something you will have to do a lot over the lifetime of the iPod, something simple. Solve the backup issue first and then restore your iPod.

The first thing to try is completely uninstalling and re-installing the latest version of the iTunes+QuickTime bundle (re-download it, don't use a previously downloaded installer). Make sure that everything Apple related (except Safari) is uninstalled. This includes iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, etc.
