got my bestskinsever in today, put on the front and it looks like its going to be alright... a few small airbubbles were in that area, however i was able ot get them out with a credit card... the skin has a few marks in it that i'm assuming will go away in the next day or two

so just to confirm, this problem doesn't effect the adhesive based skins

I have a White 1GB coming to my wife next week, I will scope out the possible "edge" to see if it has one. I will post what I see when I get it in.
I was going for the Crystal Shields, but I will hold off for now.
Just got the new white 1GB today. There is no lip on the edge of the NANO that we got today. I just put it in a new agent18 case. I had to make it bulletproof for the wife.

BTW: The wife Loves it. She had a smile on her face this evening while she was learning to use it.

That's great news! Hope she enjoys it!

So maybe the lip will not be a regular thing on the new 1gb Nanos? I'm probably going to order a 1GB Nano this weekend(for my b-day) and I was going to order a Crystal film along with it. But now that I have read this, I'm kind of scared to spend the money on the film if it will not work properly with the 1GB and they do not accept the Crystal film back once it is opened. Maybe it is possible to trim the edge of the film to make it fit correctly? I might have to order the BSE film if the other doesnt work. Thanks.

I just left the protective film on it that came from the factory and trimmed off the part at the bottom near the dock connection point. Then I stuck it in the Agent18 Case. You cannot even tell that is even on the screen. I figure once that craps out then I will look for some protection for the wheel.

I was just going to order the film along with my Nano so that I would get free shipping with it :p. I just emailed Power Support Customer Service to see if they knew anything about the problem and to see if they knew any way to fix it. I will post what they said when I get a reply.

Ipod nano face

Hey there!

I'm new here (just got a new nano last week and love it so far), so hi to everyone!

Ok , just to confirm that this behaviour show up on the 4 gb also. So my new boxwave will show an air strip all around the edges. At first I was surprised about it cuz Boxwave products are top notch.

I may write them a word about it.

Just to confirm your confirmation, you are saying that the new 4GB models also have this new "lip" around the edge? What color do you have?

Hi.

Black. I wrote to Boxwave and they will send me a replacement. I'll see if it's the protector or the nano. I doubt it's a defect; it's probably the edges that are curved to the inside. At first you don't notice it 'til you put a protector. It's not big deal since mine sits in a case anyway (Core Case) and the protector just adds anti-scratch protection...

hm.... on a 4gb nano.... gr

and also i cannot stress this enough IT IS NOT A LIP.... there is no way you would notice it just glancing at the nano or even looking at it casually, only under lots of light and at the correct angle will you see the slight indentation

plz let us know what happens with your new cover

It does but it's called a sleeve and you can't see the screen or work the controls without pulling it out.
Also they say that it scratches the nano, but I wouldn't worry since you have the white one

Hey there.

Ok, new boxwave, same behaviour. As my Nano stay in a case anyway, it's not a big deal and it and antiscratch protection.

No, you won't feel the lip. If you want to see it, just look at your cleaned nano under bright office neon light. Then with a right angle you will see light distording near the edges. IMO, that only can't prevent surface scratching, but it's not a defect.

@Others
Found any protectors that glue perfectly even with that change? The boxwave is considerably thick. Maybe making it thinner would shorten the life of it, but it could give a better fit.

EDIT:
Ok , I was rereading this entire post and please could someone confirm where I can find a protector like the shuffleskin.de in the nort american area?

Don't buy a reusable/cleanabel protector for the nona that will adhere to the surface with static. Those are often thicker and don't bend as much as in the shuffleskins.de videos. My guess is that the shuffleskins.de is slimmer and as is as an adhesive it will stick to the surface with a better fit.

@Shuffleskin.de
Any special price for the ilounge members in north america? I will return my second boxwave and get a better shield like yours.

To second what Jeremy said, I think something needs to be changed here: either the name of the thread or the attitude some are taking towards this. This is not a defect but at most a very slight design change by Apple to alleivate some of the scratching problems (at the MOST!). So: It's not a defect. It's probably a good thing. RELAX.

+1!

I totally agree! The main problem is not the nano itself, but the fact that screen protector makers need to adjust their products!

Anyway I got 2 "Final protection" for nano (from shuffleskins.de) and i will put one on tonight.

I'll let you know how it goes.
