Video files freeze Itunes

Hi everybody. I've done a few searches and am surprised that no one else is having my problem. Whenever I try to manage a video file, whether it's a TV show, movie, or music video, Itunes simply freezes up and goes to "Not Responding" so that I must pull up task manager and shut down the program. Therefore, I cannot edit the tags or do anything at all to those files in itunes. I have uninstalled & reinstalled Itunes twice, and this has not helped. These files work fine on the ipod.

Anybody have any ideas? Does anyone else even have this issue?

Just a hunch; can these videos be played in QuickTime Player?

Yes, and they can be played on Nero and various other players as well. This is why I assume the problem is with itunes.
