Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. In anticipation of receiving my new iPod I have started encoding some of my video files. Last night I tried a MPEG2 (avi) to iPod format using Quicktime Pro. A 9 minute file took almost three hours! I can convert the same file to DivX using other encoders in 21 minutes.

Some serious work needs to go into conversion software for this jump to video IMHO.

Any feedback on alternative methods?

Cheers

Martin

There's a sticky, as well as countless other topics stated in this forum.

Some members really need to look around before asking questions.

I am aware of the sticky but I was commenting on the use of Quicktime for encoding. The sticky does look at alternatives but is getting very long and does not really address the use of Apple methods of encoding. So I thought there would be room for another thread - you obviously don't. Any constructive comments on the use of Quicktime would be interesting. Thanks.
