V moda vibe hiss

I've got a new pair of V-Moda vibe ear phones--they arrived last week from amazon.com. I didn't notice this when I first used them, but now I hear a soft hiss when I plug them into my 3G nano. Now, two days ago, when I pulled the jack out, the silver part separated from the plug. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Returning them means I pay shipping (plus I don't think I kept the invoice from the box.) Is this hiss typical? Or should I ship them back?

i do, and from what I've read around various forums, the Vibes, build quality isn't 100% I borrowed my friends pair, and they broke a few weeks after i tried them. So they went back to the manufacturer.

I am using a pair of the Vibes on my iPod Touch and I hear zero hiss/white noise. -Norm

no hiss from mines either. did you try to use another set of earphones to see if it was the player instead of the vibes? but if its falling apart anyway, you should try to return it.
