Updating ipod with firewire?

is it possible to use the firewire ac adapter to add and delete songs from my ipod....my new puppy chewed through my usb and i'm trying to save money on buying a new one so can i just use the firewire cord to update my ipod?

Some models only came with firewire so I don't see why not. Should be faster too.

It depends entirely on the model of iPod. The 5th Generation iPod and iPod nano do not support transfer over firewire - only charging.

If you have a 4th Generation unit, however, you can use the FireWire cable to transfer/sync, provided you have a FireWire port on your computer.

mini's are fourth generation correct...because that is what i have
and i will be very happy if i do not have to buy a stupid usb cable for twenty dollars
