Saving your equalizer settings
You can manually adjust the iTunes equalizer and then save your customized equalizer settings to create your own "preset."

1 Click the Equalizer button in the bottom-right corner of the iTunes window.
2 Position the sliders to the desired freqency settings.
3 Choose Make Preset from the pop-up menu, and name your preset.
To rename or delete a preset, chose Edit List from the pop-up menu.

I'm not sure if that takes it across to the iPod when you sync and whether it applys to all songs. Try it and find out.

if i change the eq setting to every song to either hip-hop or r&b would the songs transfer to the ipod with one of the chosen eq settings or would i have to change eq setting for every song i listen to by hand on the ipod.
