    Signatures

In order to be able to have a signature, users must have been a member for 7 days and have accumulated 10 posts.

    Avatars

Avatars are reserved for only the most senior of iLounge forum members. Users will not be able to use an avatar until they have been a member for a minimum of one year, and accumulated 1,500 posts. This is considered the Veteran Lounger level of membership.

    A note on post whoring...

We welcome and encourage our members to make valuable and useful contributions to the iLounge forums, and to have fun, socialize, and actively participate in discussions on the forums. However, as per the Forum Policy, we will not tolerate excessive and unnecessary posting. Posting inane and pointless messages solely to increase one's post count in the hopes of reaching a higher membership level will be dealt with by the forum staff. Unnecessary posts may be subject to removal, and persisting in this behaviour will result in post counts being reduced and any further action being taken as deemed necessary.

  • With the number of recent threads from brand new users that we have observed in our Classifieds forum selling goods under questionable circumstances, we have instituted a new policy restricting new members of iLounge from posting new threads in the Classifieds forum until they have reached "Regular Member" status.

New users become Regular Members once they have made 10 posts and been a member of the iLounge Forums for at least 7 days. Prior to this time, members may still read the Classifieds forum, and even respond to existing threads for items being sold by other members, but they may not create new threads advertising their own items for sale.

This will hopefully help to protect our user community by discouraging fraudulent users from signing up and posting classified ads without having at least a very basic level of established membership in our forums.

Obviously all users should still exercise due diligence when making use of our classifieds forums, but we hope that this restriction will help to decrease the number of blatantly fraudulent ads that we have been seeing in recent weeks.

Please be sure to review our Classified Forum Policy for more information.

For about the past week or 2 I have been getting a lot of timeout errors when loading pages at iLounge. The home page loads fine however I must go through at least one timeout before any other pages will load. Once the page I wish to navigate to loads such as the Forums main page everything loads normally after. Even if I go back to the home page then load the forums everything seems to work fine till I'm away for a while.

I'm using the latest Chrome on the latest version of OS X. I will admit to using ad and flash blockers but there is no improvement with them turned off. I have also switched to using OpenDNS servers after I started seeing this issue with no help.

I haven't really tried Safari yet but will test in other browsers when I get a chance.

Leopard and SnowCat running stock Safari and Firefox; no timeouts, but painfully long load times. (A wee bit of the page code loads relatively quickly, so no timeout message...but it's not uncommon for a "Get Daily" search to take more than 30 seconds to load, and regular posts often clock in over 45 seconds.) I'm sure it's all important stuff....but it certainly feels like cruft ;-) 14 different domains just to load "Today's Posts"; whew!

I've had problems for about 2 weeks now getting to the forums; page timeouts numerous times before it works, then all OK until the next day.

Happening on both the desktop & laptop; Win 7 & Chrome.

If any of you can submit actual times and dates of the issues that would be very helpful to our support team. Please keep a note on any future issues that arise.

Thanks
Dennis

Arrgh; ya tricky bugger ;-) Went to get some to-the-second timings, so of course the previously slow "Daily Posts" page now loads in 4-5 seconds (which, on Sunday past, was needing around 30 seconds to load ;-) Submissions are still taking some time (or, at least, they were as of a few minutes ago)....

Pretty much every time I come to iLounge I start from the home page which loads fairly quick. Clicking on the Forums, +Mac, or other links usually result in at least 1 timeout sometimes 2. Usually the page loads on the second or third try. Even though there may be some slow page loads after, which I may blame on internet traffic, everything seems to work fine. Once I have been away from the site for awhile the process repeats. I have found the same problem with Safari as well.

This morning when I came here about 10 am CST everything seem to load normally. Will keep a closer eye next time as well.
