The "iPod" cannot be restored

because it contains files that are in use by another application.

I can't restore, as soon as i plug the ipod in it starts to sync and it won't stop syncing......urgh.

I've tried formatting via Windows, it just says "Windows was unable to complete the format".

I done it in disk mode, still no joy. The ipod says i have 68gb free of the 160gb memory, yet there is nothing coming up in the Music, Artists, Genres etc etc

I feel like crying

There is another program using your iPod, that is why iTunes isn't restoring it. Don't format the hard drive using Windows, that will cause more problems that solutions. You can either boot Windows into safe mode to restore your iPod or you can open up the task manager and start closing programs (other than the System programs and all of the Apple ones) to see which program is using your iPod.

Have you installed a 3rd party iPod management software or do you have another jukebox open (such as WinAmp) when you are trying to restore your iPod?
