I have been wondering a few things for a couple of days now. If you cannot answer any of them thank you for at least looking and trying to help.
Here is the scenario, I have been putting all the songs on my iPod Video 30gb through a Windows XP computer. However, now I am getting a MacBook Pro soon so I was wondering;
1. Does it reformat the iPod?
2. If so do I lose any songs?
3. If I do lose songs what do you advise using to back up my media?

Thanks for any help.

1. If it is in automatic sync mode then yes it will automatically sync to the library on your mac if you allow it. Itunes will ask you this when you plug in the ipod.

2. You lose songs on your ipod and they are replaced with whatever is on your mac's library.

3. Any portable storage device. OR your could use ipoddisk to transfer songs from your ipod to your mac without loosing id3 tags. You will lose ratings, play counts, and playlists however unless you can get creative with remembering what songs go in what list etc.
