I loaded it last night and spent the day ripping CD's and importing tracks into my 4G/40. So far, so good.

I've been using Windows XP w/ SP2 for about three days now with no issues at all, except everything seems faster. However, I installed it with a fresh install having it slipstreamed before it was even loaded.

Simple answer: No issues to report :)

Same here installed SP2 and everything works just like it did before. That was after I disabled teh stupid security check thingy to get rid of the system tray icon.

Control Panel / System Security / Change the Way Security system Alerts me (last thing on left side) Uncheck everything to controll it yourself!

I beta tested SP2 and I've been using it since June (several different builds) and have had no problems with my 3g ipod.

where did you guys download SP2? it's not showing up in windows update.
I think they are still prepping it for availability through Windows Update. You can get the Network Install version from Microsoft now (this is a very large download - 272MB and covers all versions of WinXP):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049c9dbe-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&DisplayLang=en

They will be making an Express Install download version available soon which will only download components specific to your version of Windows XP.

But, if you have broadband access, the 272MB file should be no problem at all.

Microsoft has a review of the changes in SP2 here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2chngs.mspx

They also have a colleciton of good links for IT Pro's regarding SP2:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/winxpsp2.mspx

Good luck. I have not applied the SP2 yet to my system, I'll wait for the reviews to come in before going ahead.

Microsoft also seems to want to delay the full rollout of SP2. The latest I saw is that it will be made generally available on Aug. 25. I've gotten messages on other programs that they might not be compatible with SP2.

I think it's officially on windows update now.
Only for Windows XP Home users. Windows XP Pro users will get their notifications on Aug 25th.

I applied SP2 to my system this morning. I had one documented error that was easily fixed, but other than that it was fine. I ended up disabling the Windows Firewall (I use my own) as well as disabling the Firewall Monitor, Anti-Virus Monitor and the Automatic Updates in the new Windows Security Center.

Other than that - all is well. The iPod connected fine (firewire) and the synch is working fine.

So far, so good.

Cheers.
