I just finished up doing quite a bit of searching the forums, but everytime I found a thread pertaining to what I'm trying to figure out, I was still confused. So I'll explain what I'm trying to do. I own all three seasons of The Office. Due to a recent computer upgrade, I now have a large amount of hard drive space at my disposal. I want to rip all three seasons of The Office to my computer, but I want to have each episode as an individual file because there is no way I could fit all three seasons on my 4gb video nano. I want to have all the episodes on my computer so I can watch them, but I will put just a few of them on my iPod. So how do I do this? What is/are the best program(s) out there for what I'm trying to do? They must be free, I'm not getting caught up with buying anything from anybody to do this, and due to my computer purchase, I really do not have the money to do so anyways. Thanks for reading my post, your replies are greatly appreciated.

If your new system is Windows use Handbrake and DVD43, I'm not sure how well they work with Vista but I haven't heard any issues yet. When selecting the title look for the 22-25 minute titles for a half hour program. Once you have the the proper iPod preset and destination set with the episode name, "01 - Episode Title" works for me, add it to the queue. Now do this with all the rest of the 22-25 min titles on the DVD ignoring the larger and smaller titles. Change the "01 - Episode Title" part of the destination file name for each episode adding them to the queue. Start the queue once all the episodes have been added. I would stick with the iPod Hi-Rez setting which looks good on a TV.

Once you add them to iTunes they will transfer as Movies, edit the Video tab in the Get Info window filling in the Show, Season and Episode Number fields to put them into the TV Shows section. Tags will need to be individually fill in or look into AtomicParsley for batch editing TV Show tags on Windows.

Read Sparkees post above. Make sure you are using the correct settings for iPod compatibility.
