I'm having a new issue with my iTunes library, whereby I am unable to sync any newly added movies to my iPad Mini.

These are DVD's that have been ripped using the same software as I have always used (Ripit) and are my own DVD's that I am simply making iTunes copies of for home use.

They play in iTunes & on my Apple TV3, but simply will not transfer to my iPad - they just don't sync at all.

purchased movies in iTunes will sync - older ripped movies will occasionally sync (but not always), but the newly ripped movies simply will not.

Any ideas?

It sounds like the software you are using is problematic. Theoretically, the iPad mini can playback any Apple TV (2012) compatible video even if it's 1080p. However, iOS devices tend to be abut more picky wih their compatibility. Are you using any preset setting when encoding the videos? If there's a specific Apple TV or iPad mini encoding profile, you should use that. It's obvious that your encoding software is the issue since it's videos don't always sync with your iPad mini. I suggest using a specific encoding profile or, if it doesn't offer one, switch to better software like handbrake. It has a set of specific encoding profiles and I have been using the Apple TV 3 profile for a year now without issues. I've encoded DVDs at 480p and HD-DVDs at full 1080p. They all sync over to my iPad mini just fine.
