triphopadelica (Massive Attack, Portishead, Beta Band, etc.)

Puttin' the c*** back in Country (apologies in advance for any offense - it's a Carlene Carter quote - songs here are alt-country, Bloodshot Records artists, and Johnny Cash - Gracenote (CDDB) calls Wilco country, but I have to differ, and change the auto-genre pick)

Lots of Bosstones, Nirvana, Belly, King Missile, Cracker, Camper van Beethoven, etc ...

I have only one right now:

Alark Clock.
heh

I really like using my ipod as an alarm clock. For months since I moved I've had to wake up to bull#### elevator music. It's been tough getting my ### out of bed to that. It was either that or something in spanish. I think I got the Jesus channel too, but something about someone telling me to repent first thing in the morning really annoyed me.

Forgot the Goods -- 4 and 5 star songs limited to 100 songs, selected by least recently played

History -- Limited to 150 selected by most recently played (lets me know what i just heard a couple minutes ago. mostly for utilitarian purposes)

Instrumentals -- all my songs without a word of lyrics spoken are tagged with "instrumental," and they are filtered into this playlist

iPod Radio -- complaicted. it contains 150 songs, selected by random, from the following playlists:
-- zzz1 -- 1 star songs not played in the last 12 months
-- zzz2 -- 2 star songs not played in the last 6 months
-- zzz3 -- 3 star songs not played in the last 90 days
-- zzz4 -- 4 star songs not played in the last month
-- zzz5 -- 5 star songs not played in the last 12 days

iPod Radio is just a weighted playlist that selects songs that i havent heard in a while, while limting the playlist to mostly higher rated songs and still allowing lower rated songs to trickle through every now and then

My CD -- limited to all songs with "My CD" in the comment field. its a playlist of all my personal CDs that have been ripped into iTunes

Serenity Now -- limited to all songs with "Senerity" in the comment field. just a playlist of mellow songs

The Best -- only 5 star songs

Together -- limited to all songs with "Romantic" in the comment field. music to play during a candle-lit dinner ;)

Top Classic Rock -- classic rock genre with 4 or 5 stars

Top Grade School -- limited to all songs with "School" in the comment field, and 4 or 5 star rating. sort of a nostalgic playlist.

Top Metal -- Metal genre, 4 or 5 stars

Why do people have playlists for artists and albums when the music is already arranged that way? Doesn't make sense to me.

I make sure the genre tags are consistent, so I don't need a lot of playlists. I have about 12 genres total. One of them is "just added", and that's where I put things first (my "just added" has a wide variety of styles, so I don't want them in one playlist).

I have but one playlist - "bedtime". Pretty self-explainatory. The driving playlist would be good for long drives.

I didn't know you could make playlists from the comments - that could be very useful - gracias for that one!
