I have my playlists set up by moods so that when I am in a certain mood I can choose the appropriate soundtrack...here's what I've got so far:
Rainy Twilight (lots of blues & sad songs)
Eyeliner & Cloves (goth & 80s music)
Road Trip Music
Sunshine & Waves (all happy music)
Watching Snow Fall (wistful indie-type music)
"You Talkin' To Me?" (punk & German industrial)

Plus I've got a playlist that's everything minus my classical music, and one for highly rated songs.

i think the names people give their playlists is very interesting, especially looking at some of the above samples...

'guilty pleasures' is a good one LOL! (have you got any boney m or abba in that?)

I?ve got:
. 80?s Mix
. Old School Rap Mix
. Classic Rock Mix
. 2 On-the-Go playlists
. Ultimate Marley

The first three are just popular songs from each era, not all the songs of that era that I have, just the popular ones.

The 2 On-the-Go playlists are just selections of 20 random songs that I liked at the moment. Kind of like a mix you would burn on a CD. Those are good because I get a little bit of everything.

Ultimate Marley is just a compolation of the two Bob Marley greatest hits Cds (Legend and Natural Mystic).

I like the guilty pleasure idea, but the 80?s mix basically acts as one. I also need some more creative names for my playlists.

ICU (doin' it)--hip hop must haves

i've yet to master the art of playlisting tracks. i usually like to listen to whole albums depending on what mood i'm in.

My playlists are ordered by artist and album, alphabetically. Like this:

Air - Moon Safari
Beach Boys, The - Pet Sounds
cLOUDDEAD - Ten

Et cetera, et cetera. So that I can head straight for the recording I want to hear.

Is it unusual to operate one's iPod in such a sensible manner?

Well, atm I do have the following:
- Green Day (what else should I say, simply all songs by Green Day)
- Matrix Beats (Music from the Matrix Trilogy, Games, Trailers etc.)
- My Top rated
- Never played (play count is 0)
- New (Date added is in the last 3 days)
- Shrek 2 (the OST from Shrek 2)
- Spider-Man 2 (the Spider-Man 2 OST)
- Top 25 most played
- Hard'n'Heavy (Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and other Hardcore stuff)
- In da Club (Hip-Hop, Pop, simply songs you hear, when your're in a disco.

Thats it. I think I'm going to put an "Easy listening" List together, because I need one for my trip to Canada (edit: Which is spelled with a "C", not a "K", stupidass, I spell it wrong all the time:D) in which I'm about to sit a long time in the plane.

-Top 200 hits - self-explainatory
-The Mosh 2.1 - A playlist of all my favorite hardcore songs (the first one was accidentally erased, hence the 2.1)
-Rap it up - the 20 or so rap songs i like , handy since other than outkast its all just a few songs by a few artists this keeps them all in one place.
-Acoustic - my favorite acoustic songs
-Pay attention to me! - The songs that havent been played in a few months

I like coming up with creative names for the playlists, it's a nice touch to the old pod.
