Well, here are some of our thoughts, and as I've said there I'm perfectly happy with the silver one, particularly considering the alternatives.

Of course, this does place the Shuffle now squarely in the realm of "fashion accessory".... I must admit that I was very briefly tempted to pick up a couple of different colours for different "mood" music, but those colours are just not my style....

i read the ilounge editors' comments, and agree with most of them. I do wish this was the offering from the start (as far as the colors go...the new headphones aren't worth all the hype) as I probably would have went for the orange instead of the silver. However, since I purchased the silver one with gift cards, I wouldn't be against getting a second orange one.

On a side note...jhollington...what color would you go for out of curiosity?

Like Jeremy, I would have liked to see a black one, which would have probably been my choice over silver.

If I had to choose one from the available colours other than silver, I'd pick orange just to fly the iLounge colours but again none of the available colours particularly impress me.

A Product (RED) would have also been very nice, particularly with Valentine's Day coming up, although they likely do not have sufficient margin on the Shuffle to pull that off (since a portion of the purchase price is donated).

Of course they leave out the best color, black. I don't see why Apple makes these choices about black-colored products seeing as they're in such high demand.

I had a silver one but I listen to a lot of podcasts and talkradio and not having a screen wasn't working. Plus,on shuffle I didn't like listening to a song and then having Opie/Anthony or TWIT pop up.
Plus,I don't like the silver and I'm sick of black. Everything is black or silver. So,now that I have a regular ipod (5.5) I am tempted to grab an orange one because it is very sexy looking and with it not having to serve as my primary ipod I can use it at the gym or on the bus for short trips where I only listen to music. Plus,it's just damn cool and I want one even if I don't 'need' one.

I'm happy they made orange,it's a great,underused color and it's at least something different. It's also my 3rd favorite color after white and dark purple.

For anyone who has bought one, I know the headphones are the new style. But are they regular length, or shortened like the Radio Remote length? For the Silver ones, back in November, I heard they are shortened (I haven't opened mine yet, I'm waiting to wear out an old pair before opening a new pair) but I just wanted to know about the new ones. Thanks.

the new style headphones aren't any better than the originals, I don't know why some people insist that they are.


Maybe sometime in the year 2050 we'll see color for the iPod video. Not that I really care, black is the best anyway.
