Music to iphone

I haven't a clue how to get songs on my i phone.
I have the latest i tunes which shows shows music on my phone when connected to my laptop. My last post was asking if it was possible to get back my playlists which were deleted.

I have six tracks that I have on my desk top on the laptop, I have been messing around but cannot get these songs added to my list of songs in my iphone. Each time i drag them across to tunes it only allows a new playlist.

The basics of the whole system is iTunes is the center of the universe. If the songs are not in iTunes, they can't be put onto the iPhone.

1. Add the songs to iTunes. Drag the tracks from the desktop to the Music section in the top left column of iTunes.
2. Plug in the iPhone to the computer.
3. Follow the steps in the article for automatic sync.

If you are using manually managed music, then select the tracks in iTunes, drag them from the music section and drop them onto the iPhone.
