Moving music within itunes media folder

How do I move itunes organized music from one artist folder to another.

There are two folders named "_" and "Unknown Artist" , I want to move all songs to "Unknown Artist".
I have tried been unsuccessful many times trying to turn on and off the "media folder organized" and "Copy files to itunes folder" feature.

Please advise step by step process.

To answer the question, you select the music in iTunes, right click one of the selected songs, choose Get Info, update what you want and then click the OK button.

I would leave the two settings on. But that's me. I like that the songs are organized by Artist\Album\Song.ext

If you have moved the songs already, you may need to use this trick to relink your songs: http://forums.ilounge.com/itunes-related-mac-pc-applications/242332-how-isolate-missing-tracks-exclamation-mark.html once all your exclamation marks are gone, then move on to the next step.

So if you want everything as Unknown Artist, open iTunes, select all songs, right click one, choose Get Info, in the Artist line type anything, then backspace it out. Click the OK button.

Once that finishes, right click one of the selected tracks again and if you see Convert ID3 menu item, select it. Choose v2.3 and press OK. This will write the change out to MP3 files so your artist will not revert back when you play the track.

Moving Music within media folder

Thank you for your prompt response but it didn't work or I did not understand your solution.

I also leave both settings on all the time.

I went to a "_" artist folder song in iTunes and Get Info. I changed the empty Artist field to "Unknown Artist" then OK.

Nothing happened. In Summary/Where. The music was still in /_/ folder not in /Unknown Artist/ folder.

If both of those options are on, AND the songs are in the iTunes Media folder (C:\Users\<login>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\_\<album>\<song>.<ext>) then the song should have moved from _ to Unknown Artist.

You must have something like _ in the Album Artist field which will prevent it from moving.

You don't need to type Unknown Artist, having a blank entry will also move it there. Both Artist and Album Artist need to be modified to be blank or Unknown Artist to move.

Moving Organized Music inmedia folder

After trying many things, I found out what works. I had 16 songs to move from "_" to "Unknown Artist"

AS you said "select the each song in itunes, right click and choose Get Info, then delete out everything in Artist AND Artist Abum , then OK Repeat for 16 songs. All Done.

Even easier to select all 16 together and change them all at once.
