I think I bought my iPod touch maybe 6 or so years ago. I was wondering if I would gain anything by buying a newer model?

You will get the newest version of iOS, which allows the new versions of apps to be installed and used. Not to mention the newer hardware will run things faster, which will be noticeable.

What I find with my aging iPad, is that as the iOS versions move farther away from what I am using (they stop updating on older hardware) the apps start to disappear as well. Upgrading the hardware is needed eventually, just to keep the device usable.

I doubt I would notice any difference. All I use my iPod for is listening to albums when I go to bed. I do not use apps. No internet surfing. No picture or video taking. No game playing.

For me purchasing the Sixth Generation might be a waste of money.

Then you may only get more space or better battery life. I don't really see a need for you to upgrade unless you want either of those things.
