I bought my first iPod last month - a 32GB 3G Ipod Touch - and all the tutorials in these forums have been a real lifesaver - thanks! :)

I'm using Markable as recommended to convert my MP3 audiobooks to m4b files, but I have a couple of questions.

1) Is there any advantage to converting MP3s to m4bs now that iTunes can designate any MP3 as an audiobook and cause the iPod to remember the last playback position?

2) I notice that the tutorials are 2 to 5 years old and I'm wondering if the recommended maximum filesizes and runtime for both MP3s and m4bs still apply to the 3G iPod touches?

If not, it would be easier to have each audiobook as a single file, either by using this setting in Markable, or, in the case of MP3s, using MP3 Splitter & Joiner to create a single file.

TIA!
