Hi all

I've just recently discovered this.... It was when someone told me that they could remove the EU Vol Limit restriction on their Classic 7th Gen (I cannot on mine) that I dug further and found this out.

There are links at the bottom to these two:

I've had a google and does not seem that this info is all that well known on the net. Was surprised by all of it, but especially the hardware changes.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Cheers

Interesting, the pictures in the Apple forum look legit, so maybe the rule changed for certain regions within EU? Apple may have quietly made hardware changes that only allow an update to firmware version 2.0.5, but you can download 2.0.5 yourself from 3rd party sites, for example:

iPhone, iPod, iPad and Apple TV Firmware Download

I'm not recommending you do this, but if you're brave enough to try you could download 2.0.5, then while connected to iTunes hold the Shift key while you click Restore and navigate to where you saved the download (look for the .ipsw file extension). But like I said, there could be hardware limitations that prevent its installation, and conceivably could brick your iPod, so proceed at your own risk.
