ok let me see if i've got this right...

MC9, like iTunes, needs to see the mp3/aac files on your harddrive i order to be able to correctly work with the ipod?

My problem is that i only have 2-4 GB to play around with left on my tiny 15gig harddrive. The rest is full and in more or less constant use.
as a consequence all my music is on my pod.

MC9 seems to use a similar music library system as both mm and itunes do which would suggest that changes to smartlists, playlists etc are made in the library on your pc and later synched to the ipod.

have i got it right so far?

No ways around this i suppose?
No 'ephpod' style editing playlists, tags and stuff directly on the ipod without having a physical copy of the songs on hdd?

if so , pity, might have to get a new hdd then after all!
