Hello folks,

I use Windows 7 64 bit and right from the beginning I had issues with iTunes so I used to use Copy Trans Manager to copy music and videos to my Ipod and it worked flawlessly.

After recent update of iTunes when I tried to add up some more videos I could not use Copy Trans Manager and had to use iTunes. After that, it gave me a message that my video library was empty and whatever new videos I added were not compatible with iPod format (even though they were made using Handbrake and iPod Touch preset)
Things rolled downhill and I ended up restoring iPod using iTunes. After iTunes downloaded software and it erased all data from iPod, even after 30 minutes, nothing changed either on iTunes or iPod screen. When I checked in Windows Task Manager, it told me that iTunes is not responding. Now iPod is stuck in Apple logo and not recognizable in iTunes.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on how to proceed before I hit Apple store.

Thanks in advance.

Hello folks,

I did some tweaking as mentioned by Solutions2Ipod on another thread and managed to get rid of Apple logo and now I have iTunes and USB logo, still restoration fails and I get error code 6.
I get redirected to page that I can not post here, so stupid....

Can anybody clarify what error is?

Thanks in advance

Error 6 and 9 is due to some problems with the ipod's memories or it could be your computer.

Keep restoring it, try a new comp will help.

Thanks Solution2Ipod,

Your were correct, I fixed iPod using my friend mac, it didn't take that long, first attempt and it restored.

Now that I brought iPod back home and tried and sync videos and mp3 using iTunes and it gives me following error

"The iPod can not be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device"

Any ideas how to resolve this error?

Many thanks in advance.

Since you restored your iPod with Mac, your iPod can not be synced with PC. Al though I think there's a way to do it but I don't know how sorry.

"The iPod can not be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device" PC just can't recognized your iPod software.

You may want to restore your iPod in your PC again.

Try this out: it would be faster and safer way to do it. Go to setting - General- Reset-- and Erase all content and settings. After reset is done you should have an iTunes cable logo appeared on your iPod and also if you notice there's a small battery sign on the top right corner. Plug your iPod into your PC and set your iPod as new.

Hope this will do the trick.

I beg to differ on your comment that since its restored using mac I can not use windows anymore. I did manage to put music on iPod and it plays flawlessly. The problem persists with the videos. Its says that the format is not supported and when I play the same videos through Dropbox, they do play on this iPod. I don't understand why the heck it gives error message when I try to put it on the disk.

Further googling gave me the clue that it could be my USB cable that is faulty which is very much a possibility. This iPod user is not actually me but my 3 year old son and many a times he has pulled iPod when its charging, so this cable has undergone some brutality.

I have ordered a new cable and I will try with new cable. If the problem persists then I really have a trouble ahead otherwise I really hope that solves the problem.
In that case, I will try your solution of restoring iPod from iPod itself. Honestly, I am scared do that as I don't want to approach this guy for more help.

Thanks for all your help. Meanwhile, do you know any trick to put videos on disk using wi-fi?

I know that if you want to transfer game from App to iPod you need to jailbreak your iPod. Not really sure if it works for video too.

Completely false. The iPod touch, unlike other iPods, uses the HFS+ file system even if it is restored under Windows. This means that you can restore and sync the iPod touch across Windows or Mac OS X without issues. Only the iPod classic, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle models have issues if you restore them under OS X and want to sync with Windows. The iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad are completely different.

The video problem likely stemmed from you using a third party syncing program that messed something up. In other words, the program may have been using an old iTunes standard for syncing to your iPod. Upgrading to iTunes introduced that new standard and thus caused some compatibility problems. Take those videos that you want to sync and add them to your iTunes library. Go back to Handbrake and re-encode them if need be making sure they aren't encoded at a video bitrate and resolution higher than what your iPod touch supports. Keep in mind that the iPod touch profile in Handbrake was updated last year to include compatibility with the 4G iPod touch allowing for 720p video encoding. Your iPod cannot playback 720p videos even when they are made using the iPod profile, the hardware in your iPod simply can't handle that high of a resolution.

There is no way for you to sync anything to your iPod via wi-fi without jailbreaking it. Even then, that won't solve your problem as the iPod still won't work with your videos. Changing the method of syncing won't fix anything when the issue lies with the source files. Go back and examine them and re-encode them if you are still running into issues and double-check everything I previously stated.
