I don't know what I may have done but two of my computers are now shuffling all my playlists. I have 14 playlists each containing approx. 200 songs. I like to chose one playlist at a time and play the songs in order alphabetically arranged from A to Z . Sometimes for a different experience I listen to them from Z to A .
I think I first noticed it happening on my iPod. As I'm writing this I just noticed icons in the display song window . The left one shows shuffling lines and is highlighted while on the right appears to be straight lines.
W
hen I clicked on the straight ones and un-highlighted the shuffled ones it seems that my songs are being played in straight order. Is it possible that that is the solution? Sounds too easy. Your comments, please. Thank you

I need to charge my ancient iPod to get to your Classic iPod menus exactly, so I am using an iPod Nano to reproduce the issue. Things should be in the same place, but if they are not, you may have to look around the Settings menu a little bit.

An iPod can be set to Shuffle and Repeat in the settings.
In the iPod you should be able to see Settings (you may need to press Menu a few time to get to the top level)
Under Settings there should be a few items, we are concerned about 2.
Shuffle: needs to be set to Off
If it says Songs or Albums then wheel down to it, press the center button to change it until it says Off.
Repeat: needs to be set to Off
If it says All or One then wheel down to it and press the center button to change it until it says Off.

iTunes behaves in a similar manner, just easier to get to the on/off switches.
Go to your playlist, select a song and play it.
Look at the top center bar of iTunes, where it should show the Song name, Artist and Album in the middle of the top bar.
On the upper left is the Shuffle indicator. If it has a dark background it is ON, click it to turn it off.
On the upper right is the Repeat indicator. If it has a dark background it is ON, click it to turn it off.
