Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. On the front of my PC, I have 2 USB Ports. They are both USB 2.0 and powered so I know that is not the problem.

Now, only 1 or the 2 works fine. If I plug the iPod in the other one (That is easier to physically connect something in it) Windows XP (SP2) complains that it's an Unknown USB Device. But if I use the other port, it works perfectly.

I suspect it might be a corrupted entry somewhere that causes windows to misdetect it, I've used USB Stick Drives in that port no problem.

I am pretty handy with Windows Hacking, Regedit, so if anyone knows the trick, I'll try it.

Are you sure that you are inserting the cable fully in ALL ports.

Yes, and I know Windows keeps a record somewhere of all the devices and ports that are detected. So I know that the entry for the iPod and the lower USB Port is corrupted, just don't know where that Database is sitting (Somewhere in Regedit)
