iPod classic 5.5 cannot reset

Hello, I got a new used iPod classic 5.5 and I cannot reset it by pressing the select and menu buttons at the same time. Both buttons work separately, but pressing them at the same time never triggers a reset even if I hold them for a pretty long time. I also tried with flipping the hold switch from on the off and then pressing those buttons and it still did not work. Any idea why this might be the case? The seller I bought from said they put in a new clickwheel, could that be part of the problem?

Both issues seem like an internal assembly problem. It could be an iPod classic 6 click wheel (missing a connector the older devices used) or a connection was missed or something is broken. Hard to say for sure.

Thank you very much for your reply. You hit the nail on the head about it being a click wheel issue. I ordered a new one and just replaced it; it works perfect now! Thanks again.
