my ipod classic 120 gb is not able to be seen in windows 10 nor itunes. I have a 30 pin wire that i can connect to the ipod aND and the other half i can plug it into my car radios aux port. so 1 end is 30 pin the other end is 3.5 something its like a headphone plug. it doesn't show as its charging with the battery moving. I cant figure out why it wont get recognized by itunes or my PC yet it does everything else. retracts are 596, reallocs are

To sync to a computer, you need to use a iPod 30 pin to USB cable. Using an actual Apple branded cable to do this work and ensure there are no USB hubs in the middle of the connection for best results.

The 30 pin to 3.5mm headphone jack is only good to play audio from the iPod to another device like a sound system. There is NO syncing or charging capable with that cable.

Use the correct cable and see if that works. If not you can look at this other post for tips to get it to connect to iTunes. https://forums.ilounge.com/threads/urgent-time-sensitive-ipod-classic-not-being-able-to-be-detected-by-itunes-or-apple-devices-software.288832/post-1458504

Thank you for your response. I don't think I was able to clearly convey my issue. Yes I did have at one time the original 30 pin cord. About 7 years ago I started using a apple approved 30 pin cord with no issues. As far as my 30 pin to 3.5 cord I do use this cord in my car every day. This cord works just fine. When the iPod is on my jvc dock the iPod works. The iPod works all over the place with many different docks and cords. But it will not show up in my PC or the half dozen other PCs I tried connecting it to over the years. The iPod works with many different devices using a 30 pin cord name brand or not. It just won't show up in my PC at al. The iPod works as intended in every which way. Except when I try to connect it to my PC with my 30pin cord or any other 30 pin cord I've tried or used the last 7,8 years. Whether the 30pin cord I use is apple or a no name the iPod works just fine. It just won't show up on my PC or any other PC or computer when I want to connect to iTunes so that I can get new music on it. There is no hub in between the iPod and PC. I always connect it straight to the PC.ive tried it with a hub and thru the jvc dock as well as many other docks apple branded or not. It won't show up in the PC when ever I try to .other then that issue the damn iPod works just fine with every other cord, dock whether it's apple brand or not it works.i just can't get my PC ,my current one and previous 2 others in addition to the half dozen PCs I tried to get it to get recognized.

I didn't say I use the 30 pin with 3.5 cord in my PC. It's always in my vehicle that's what I use to listen to the iPod in my vehicle. I've also thought about the driver's, how would I reapply those driver's into the iPod is they were missing? I've tried to do this but have not been able to get the driver's into the iPod.
The 30 pin with 3.5 cord I use as an example of one of the ways I use the iPod. The iPod works in and thru every speaker or application I connect it to it works well. But the only issue is it won't connect to my PC in order for me to add new music to. This has been like this for about 8 plus years. I just want to add new music to it all games, genius, a and music files work in the iPod with no issues.

Then click the link above, follow the steps and tell me if you can see the iPod on your PC or not.

I've viewed that post before.I looked into the drivers before, that they might be missing but I've tried several different things from suggestions and no luck. I couldn't figure out the program or how to get the drivers onto the iPod if the iPod is not connecting to the PC or showing in it, I was left to trying to push the drivers thru the USB I had connected thru .either someone and you have any ideas on how to do that you know Also in the link it says I have to go to like device manager, open them all up and start with the ones that are yellow or something's showing there's an issue wrong with them to click on those but I don't have any of those in mine and either kindones that I plugged into other PC'S. They didn't have any either. So I don't know if it's not even recognizing it in the device manager either. It never has since the last 8 years. I just don't know how I'm going to be able to get like the drivers or anything on there to repair it. That's why I posted the first time with possibly replacing the 30 pin connector on the iPod and hopefully someone has tried that before and they had success cuz other than me not seeing I didn't see anything visually wrong with the PCB board when I had it open and I changed the battery out. I can't really think of any other idea other than changing out that 30 pin connector yeah but I have thought about that missing drivers but how do I get them onto the iPod is the thing that I had issues. 8548

You keep posting lots of irrelevant data. I get it, the iPod works.

The steps are there to fix Windows to get it and iTunes to recognize your iPod. Most of the steps are how to fix Windows since it is usually the one that is broken.

Do you not know how to open Control Panel in Windows? Answer: drag mouse over to the Start Button, click, then type Control Panel.

I am not going to spoon feed any more of the instructions than that. You need to follow the instructions or find a technical person/kid that can help you through the Windows steps to fix this.
