Hi everybody and thanks for accepting me here. I’ve got a 4th gen 40Gb and a Photo 20Gb first series. In short: about 4 years ago both hard disks died; I replaced them with two micro SDs and relative converters from compact flash to IDE 50 points + relative adapters from SD to compact flash; everything went smoothly until a month ago. Both micro SDs died; at least that’s what I thought. No problem; I buy two SDs, mount them and…there’s no way to make the two iPods work anymore; sad face or bad battery or the simple invitation to go to assistance. Sometimes, just an apple that stays there forever. A couple of times they gave me Error 1429; I also changed the two batteries (they were dead); I tried to format from the PC, with and without iTunes: nothing doing. Either I’m told that the iPods are corrupt or I’m asked to restore, in a loop. This is both on the iMac and on the PC; with USB and with FireWire. However, both enter Diagnostic Mode and run all the diagnostic tests; I can also put them in Disk Mode. But if I reboot and connect them to an iMac or Windows 10 the problems always return the same.
Any suggestions? Many thanks.

Not that I am an expert by any means here, but the HDD death, SSD death and bad battery indicators could all be related to bad power being supplied. I would check the power conversion part of the hardware and ensure the correct voltages are being delivered to the rest of the device.

Hi Cjmnews tanks for your reply. One more question, as I’m the less expert of all here: when you write “power conversion part of the HW”, what do you precisely refer to?
