New iPhone calls the tune
A MOBILE "iPhone" which will play downloaded music was being unveiled by Apple today.
The gadget has been developed in partnership with Motorola and will allow people to transfer any of their favourite songs on their PC to their phones.
A number of mobile phones which double up as portable MP3 players are already on sale in the UK.
But Jason Jenkins, the deputy editor of gadget magazine T3, said the launch of the iPhone should bring the concept to a much wider market.
"Until now it has been quite a niche thing for people to play MP3s on their mobiles. This will kick-start it," he said.
Motorola spokesman Allan Blair said the new phone would be available by the end of this month.
