I load the audio CD and select all tracks and join them , then I select "Import CD" , bottom right. BUT, the imported file(s) do not load where I expect, into the iTunes library, either as books or music . Instead, they are imported to the iTunes Media Center ( /Users/applemacbookpro/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media ). I can't persuade them to relocate to the library. A short while ago the imports went directly into the music library until I changed them into audiobooks under the Get Info tab & they relocated within the library.. .. Suggestions please.

The iTunes Media is the folder where content is stored when you load it into iTunes and you have iTunes managing your library. All Music and Books are there. That is the Library.

Unless you have an installation that started on a older version of iTunes, then your folder is named iTunes Music like mine is.

If you Consolidated your library recently, it is possible that your Library was copied from iTunes Music to iTunes Media. Which would mean that you are using iTunes Media for your library now. I have never consolidated my library so I am not sure this is the case.

You may want to look at your other content to see what folder it is located in. I would guess that your music is located in the iTunes Media folder. If this is the case you may be able to delete the iTunes Music directory. I would put it in the trash, then open iTunes, create a Playlist called Good Tracks, select all my Music and drop it on the Good Tracks Playlist. Then create a Smart Playlist with the rule Playlist is not Good Tracks, and name it Bad Tracks. If Bad Tracks is empty, then you should be good to empty the trash.

If you have tracks in Bad Tracks, then put the iTunes Music folder back, then click on Bad Tracks, select all tracks and delete them. If they come back (and is the same number) then you just have some missing files. If they all go away, they are stored in the iTunes Music Folder.

Personally I would not care where the files are stored as long as my iTunes can access them.

This seems to me, as unskilled as I am, to be quite a complex solution. Just now I have encountered another problem: once I load the audiobook CD & select all tracks and I try to "join tracks" under the advanced tab, it works and then it doesn't. I loaded two CDs of a 8-CD book and was able to join tracks. The third CD would not allow this command. I went back & reloaded the first CD and at first the tracks were already joined. I unjoined them and tried to rejoin them & was unable. That command is irregular. It worked and then it doesn't. Sometimes the tracks are already joined, sometimes the command is not live. ??????? corrupted iTunes program???

More on the failure of the iT "join tracks" command: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2538467?start=15&tstart=0
the complaints are fast and furious. I am not a geek by a very long way and I hope some people who sell these products take responsibility to clean up the problems with iTunes 10.6 (40). I will just have to return to listening to audiobooks while I walk using my old fashioned CD player on my hip.Anyone want my iPod?

I have never seen the join option not work unless I missed a track in the middle of the selection.

I use the Ctrl-A option after clicking on the CD to be sure I get all tracks selected.
