• With the number of recent threads from brand new users that we have observed in our Classifieds forum selling goods under questionable circumstances, we have instituted a new policy restricting new members of iLounge from posting new threads in the Classifieds forum until they have reached "Regular Member" status.

New users become Regular Members once they have made 10 posts and been a member of the iLounge Forums for at least 7 days. Prior to this time, members may still read the Classifieds forum, and even respond to existing threads for items being sold by other members, but they may not create new threads advertising their own items for sale.

This will hopefully help to protect our user community by discouraging fraudulent users from signing up and posting classified ads without having at least a very basic level of established membership in our forums.

Obviously all users should still exercise due diligence when making use of our classifieds forums, but we hope that this restriction will help to decrease the number of blatantly fraudulent ads that we have been seeing in recent weeks.

Please be sure to review our Classified Forum Policy for more information.

Hello everyone,

Hope you guys are doing well!

I would like to inform everyone that I have changed iLounge's forum software to a better and faster one. The previous one was a little outdated, so thought to give it a new fresh look.

I hope you guys like it and if you find any bugs, do let me know 😁

Regarding the iLounge blog, I have hired some developers to make some major updates to the blog since the previous blog was really hard to maintain as an admin. It might take a couple of days for the updates to complete.

For those who are wondering why aren't we publishing any new articles on the blog, well the developers have told me not to publish any new articles until the updates are made, therefore we got to wait for a couple of days until they get their job done.

Cheers!

It is a fresh look, and will take some time to get used to. I have altered my default bookmarks since the pages I was using no longer exist.

I am not a fan of 2 factor authentication (I use a password manager, so I never lose my passwords), but at least you did it right using the phone app, and not using SMS. Much more secure than SMS. It was surprising to see this is required. Even disabling it after setting it up went back to required. You might want to recommend an app for users to use on their phone. I use Authenticator for this as it can handle multiple accounts.

2 factor authentication will probably stop most people that struggle with iTunes from joining the forums. It will also reduce/eliminate spammers. So there is a trade off. I just think that my mom would most likely just give up instead of trying to figure out 2 factor.

Being a person that lives on screens 18 hours a day, I would like to have a dark mode. Dark backgrounds with light text.

As a moderator, I used to be able to ban people that post spam, edit posts that had advertising links or disguised links to bypass link posting restrictions, and move posts and threads as needed to appropriate areas. Do we have these abilities in this new forum?

I have seen some of the controls for spam. It will take a bit to figure out what we want to do with this.

I suggest some pruning of old stickies, and some moderator and above only forums so these type of posts are not public. We don't need to have public viewing of how we handle spammers.

I forgot to remove the 2-factor authentication requirement from the moderator's group, as I know it can be very annoying. I have removed it now and have removed it for all other groups.

I will arrange a dark background theme shortly just for you @cjmnews 😁

Yes, you still can edit/delete posts and ban spammers as I have given all permissions to the moderator's user group. It's almost the same as previous forum software. The tick box (selecting a post) is only at a different location.

Yes, right now you are the only moderator with powers on the forum. Old moderators only got the rank but not the powers on the forum. I will make a special group for them like "Legend" or "Retired" to move all old team members in them.

Yes, I will remove old stickies. If you got time, then go for it. The "Restricted Access Areas" forum is only visible to admins/moderators and not normal users. So normal users won't know how we deal with spams, etc...

Is the Lounge restricted access? In the previous incarnation I thought it was open to lots of people.

I don't see the old Restricted Access Areas.

Oops, the old Restricted Access Areas forum was not visible for moderators. Please check now.

Seems like I need to review the forum permissions for other groups.

Hello @cjmnews ,

I have added a dark theme on your request :D

You can find an option to switch the site theme at the bottom left of the forum. (Select "Dark iLounge Theme")

I hope it's fine.
