a PM to me:
Naming convention is one way. Place the book name first in each song name slot (Highlight>R Click>get info> info>name, artist, album name) followed by the chapter Number and name, e.g.:
Name: People of the Book 01_25U, Hannah, Sarajevo, Spring, 1996. (followed by 02_25, etc., and optionally U = unabridged, A = Abriged. If there are fewer than 10 chapters, the numbering can be 1_9U, etc., rather than 01_09.)
Artist: Geraldine Brooks
Album Artist: Geraldine Brooks
Album Name: People of the Book
You will have to rename each song name individually, but you can do that without R Click>get info by clicking twice on the song name and typing in or copying in Book Name, etc. there in audiobook iTunes listing. If you first copy the book name you could paste/insert it in front of your existing chapter names as you individually rename each - be sure to get the cursor at the beginning of the song name and that the whole title is not highlighted.
You can insert the Artist entries and Album name for all of the chapters at one time by selecting all the chapters R Click>get info>info> and then insert those entries which will rename all but the song name. I wish audible would insert book name in album name slot and use a numbering convention that didn't take up so much space and that would tell you the total number of book parts.
You may find it easier to manage your books with a smart playlist, where Playlist name = Book Name and the parameters are Album = People of the Book. There are an infinite number of ways to use smart playlist to organize books into an orderly and easily managed sequence and separation.
Alternatively, you could name the Album = Book Name, merely number the chapters as above, create a Smart play list with Album = Book Name, thereby saving the little trouble of inserting the book name in the Song Name slot. With copy and paste, seems not much of a saving, however. In any case, with differing chapter titles, you are going to have to put numbers in the Song name to order whether using a smart list or not.
This is a good question and worthy of sharing, so I am going to post it in the forum. Others may have better or different suggestions. If you have further questions, just post them in the forum.
Enjoy
I am assuming you have created audio books with separate chapters, with each chapter having a different title.sacher said:Alright, I have been searching for an answer to this question to absolutely no avail.
I have some audiobooks in Protected AAC format that are all sorted into their respective places but I cannot get them to stay in order(according to book and chapters)after syncing to my iPod...they go in alphabetically by chapter, mixing all the chapters and books together.
Is there ANY way around this?
THanks for your time.
