hello,
2 problems ... 1 solution.
- some mp3 files end up invalid after editing tags with id3x. Itunes, and finder's preview can't play them although some progs e.g. audion can.
- vbr files encoded by progs other than itunes can have seriously wrong track times resulting in acres of silence.
I've foudn that the freeware (PC only I'm afraid ) programme VBRFIX, analyses the files and rewrites them with a valid header resulting in correct times and a file that itunes recognizes once more...
saved loads of files for me... hope it works for you...
