How to download subscription podcasts on ipod touch?

I updated to Ipod touch firmware 2.2 and want to use the wifi podcast download feature but i can't add my subscription podcast. I use the link to add to itunes on the ipod touch and it says says "Safari cannot open page because the address is invalid."

What is the podcast you are trying to get? It may be possible that the podcast needs to be available in iTunes Store to select it from a link in the touch's Safari.

Incidentally the new podcast feature is to manually download and listen/view podcasts through the iTunes Store only. You can not subscribe to and manage podcasts in any way on the touch. You can only browse through, download and listen to the episodes available through the iTunes Store on the touch. If you download an episode on the touch it will sync back to iTunes when you connect your iPod to the computer. Once the episode has been synced back to iTunes you will still need to click the "Subscribe" button beside it in it's Podcasts section if you wish to keep it or delete it from here if you don't. iTunes on the computer will look after the Podcast after you click the subscribe button there. You will still be able to manually download through the touch.

Yes the podcast is on Itunes but only the free version.
Subscription podcasts use tokens so when you cancel subscription the podcast stops.

The podcast is posted every weekday at 5:30pm. I want to get on wifi and listen on commute home from work.

I see, it's a payed for subscription. I doubt very much if the store on the touch would have the capability to manage this. If you payed for it are you able to subscribe with it in iTunes on the computer? If you can it may be possible to get new episodes using the touch by clicking the get more episodes at the bottom of the episode list in it's Podcasts section (not in the store). However for this to work you would need to keep an old episode synced to it to keep it's entry on the touch. You could achieve this by selecting an episode in iTunes and marking it not to auto delete.

Not sure if it will work, but it maybe worth a try. Let us know how it works if you do.

No go, can't get more episodes. Button just brings up the podcast itms podcast page. As usual Apple did the minimum they could when adding feature.

I didn't really expect much with the new podcast download feature on the first implementation. I hope they still work to improve it though. It would be nice to have a stand alone Podcast client that could manage Podcasts similar to iTunes with out the aid of a computer.
