How to Download Music Videos and Convert for $0. (Win) MODS PLEASE STICKY

http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=131894

Alright I noticed in the above post that that doesn't work anymore on a Windows machine so what we are going to do is take advantage of Myspace.

Taking Video From Web

1) First we need to find the video on a Myspace code website. For people that don't know what these are, they are sites full of videos, mostly from Yahoo, that have some html code you put in your myspace so the videos will play when people view your Myspace. A good thing to do is google something like "myspace video codes" or "[artist name] video codes". Just something similar to that. A good site is http://www.videocodesworld.com.

2) Now that we have the site we need to copy the source from the code. Copy what is higlighted in the above picture and then open VLC. If you don't have VLC installed then download it from
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/.

3)Now open up VLC and go to File > Open Network Stream. Then click the HTTP/FTP/MMS circle. Now paste the source link in the textbox and click ok.

4)Now we need to aquire the actually stream it is coming from. So when the video is playing click View > Playlist. Right click on the item "- - - " and click "Get Info".

5) Now that we have the actuall stream stop the video and go to File > Open Network Steam. This time delete that first link and paste in that new link we just found. Then check the box labeled "Stream Output" and then click "Settings". Here check off "File" and then check off "Dump Raw Input". Then click "Browse". Navigate to where you want to save the files and make the name "[song].wmv".

6) Now click on both OK buttons and then the VLC window will show a timeline with the ticker thing going across it. When the ticker goes to the end it is done.

Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas. Hope I helped!

Very cool. Mine worked. I had trouble on this part: img494.imageshack.us/img494/7707/mms3cj.jpg but all I had to do was find the length of the song IE: 4:20:00 and then click get info. Very nice, thanks.

Hmm IDK. I downloaded the Beautiful day video and it worked fine. I'm guessing try again. Also for some videos there are multiple streams. Possibly try another one or restart everything, including closing VLC, and doing it again.

What happened to me was that while the video was being outputed, you must stop it manually, when you think it has ended. Not doing so starts the whole output process over again, thus stopping it might make it a small file.

Nothing should play when you copy that to the HTTP textbox. Instead a timeline should appear and a ticker will go across it.

Look at the bottom, or elsewhere, for the duration of the song, like "3:34:00", then right click that and click get info.

I must be doing something wrong, I pasted the line in red brackets from your link,

in the File, Open Network Stream, click on HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS and didnt get any video playing at all. Even hit the play arrow and nothing.

Any ideas?

I am running Windows.

stewc,

when you get the first link, the souce, it looks like this src="http://www.videocodesworld.com/code.php?id=2897" name="MediaPlayer" , instead of pasting that in the HTTP area, paste only http://www.videocodesworld.com/code.php?id=2897" name="MediaPlayer" , so in essence, you are getting rid of the src=" part of the message. The click play, or it might automatically play also.

Actually you only need the videocodesworld.com/code.php?id=2897.

Thanks that worked perfectly. Is the video you get out of this process configured to run on an ipod or do you have to further modify it to play on the ipod.

Do you guys use itunes to get music and videos into the ipod or do you prefer another method.

Thanks for all your help.
