In previous versions of iTunes at the bottom of the page it would show how many albums and how big (in Gigs) your iTunes libray is. This seems to have disappeared. Is there any way to get this back?

The number that was reported was often wrong, as it did not include some items.

Anyway, if you click on Albums in your Music section, it will show how many albums you have.
Click on songs and it will show you how many songs you have. Genres will show how many tracks in that genre you have. Artists, when All artists is selected, shows the track count again, selecting individual artists shows the count of tracks for that artist.

The number is at the bottom of the main window.

611 artists, 2782 songs @ 20GB, 281 audio book tracks @109 GB

Then you must be on an older version of iTunes. As of 12.4 it is on by default, and I can't find a way to turn it off.

In older versions of iTunes, there were a couple ways to enable/disable it.
You can click View->Show Status Bar
or hold Ctrl and type /

I'm running 12.7.4.80 and some how the status bar had got diabled. Following the "View-show status..." got it working again.

Cheers
