How long for transfer????

How long will it take me to transfer 12 gigs of #### to my ipod using a high speed usb port through iTunes? How much faster would it be if I got my hands on a firewire cable?

An hour or so. The newest iPod is not compatible with Firewire.

Ive got 17 Gigs to transfer when i get mine, im hoping it doent take over 2 hours.

It shouldn't take to long at all. definately quicker than 2 hours. what speed HD do you have? usb 2.0 is faster than firewire 400 anyways.

Not once you factor in CPU overhead. 480 mbps for USB 2.0, 400 mbps for Firewire, but Firewire is ultimately faster.

I am getting a 30gb 5g for Christmas but my wife let me play with it a week ago and I uploaded about 25gb worth of songs and video in about 45 minutes. So 12gb shouldn't take that long at all.
