I plan to buy this:
http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3205

How do I figure out how long 4 X 2300 mah batteries would power an 80gig iPod Video playing videos continuously? How about powering an 8 gig iPod Nano?

(and this powers anything that can connect to USB, so in a tangent I would also like to know how long this would power a Cingular 8125 phone).

Thanks! :)

Where did u get the 2300 number? (number better applied to AA batteries)

Looks like a typical AAA puts out 1000 mah, and that's what this gadget says its capacity is "POWER OUTPUT: USB DC 5.0V 1000mAh."

It's very simple. Find out your Nano/iPod built-in capacity. Let say your Nano has an internal battery of 500mAh and lasts u 10 hours..... then this gadget will give you ~20 hours of additional service.

I think your math may be a little off....

If a 500mAh gets you 10 hours, the 2300mAh battery, being 4.6 times the capacity, will get you 46 hours, or 36 additional hours.

I realized it was AAA so I bought an AA version somewhere else :)

That's the thing, how do you find out what the iPod's, or other electronics', battery is?

Also if the iPod has 1 500MAH battery, wouldn't this be 2300 X 4? Or you just count the 4 cells as 1 2300?

1. Read the iPod manual.
2. Digg through iPod's technical specs.
3. eBay for iPod replacement batteries.

The second thing u said. The 4 AA cell are connected serially (back-to-back) to provide u with 5 volts, the total system capacity is still 2300mAh.
