I have TWO Black 60GB 5th Gen iPods. (I always buy a spare!). The 2nd one is in the box, with the plastic shield still on. Every couple of months, I take it out of the box and synch it. It's in PRISTINE condition.

This is my backup iPod. What amazes me, is that I can keep it in the box for 2 months, but when I take it out of the box, and turn it on, it comes on rather quickly, and the battery meter is at the MAX position.

I haven't had ANY problems with the batteries on either of my 2 units. Looks like they got it right after all.

I agree, on my 30GB Black 5G, the battery lasts me at least 3 hours (maybe more) on video, and practically all day with music. I haven't really ever timed it, but I've never had the battery die on me yet, and I have about 3 hours every day where I do nothing but watch movies on my iPod, and it lasts all those three hours. Yes, I'm talking about the 5G 30GB, not 60.

Richie Rich? Hardly - just obsessive - compulsive and VERY accident prone!

I just got my 30 GB Black iPod last night and I'm very impressed with it. (overall and the battery) Since I already had iTunes installed on my computer I jumped right into it, transfering my music and videos and I put some photos in too just for show. After that and wait for it to charge, it was probably connected for just over 3 hours (I couldn't wait the whole 4.) I read that you are supposed to let the brain run dry on the first charge to get the best results. So that's what I'm on right now, and I started at 4 in the morning, and as I layed in bed I watched maybe a few minutes of video and looked at the pictures and had it on all songs shuffle repeat, played a few games, etc. with the backlight on, for about half an hour in total and then I put it down beside me and fell asleep. It's now 12 PM and it's still playing, so that's 8 hours already and the battery icon is just under 1/4. And supposedly, the battery life only goes up after the first charge and discharge so I'm quite sure it will be able to reach 14 hours. :D

Update:

It died at 6:07 PM, so I got just over 14 hours out of it on the first charge. Even if it doesn't improve, I'll be very happy with it.

No, I always have to be prepared. Can you guess how many packs of AA batteries I have in the house?

Why would you buy a spare iPod? Do you have a spare house too?

What is it anyone's business if I buy 1, 2, 5, or 500 iPods? I did because I wanted to. I'm well over 18 years of age and do not need to explain my actions to anyone, let alone people I do not know.
