I have an ipod nano and want to use a 3.5 mm TRS to stereo RCA adapter to route the nano's output to my stereo reciever. I understand that the socket in the ipod is TRRS.

Is it OK to do this and will I get both stereo channels out of my reciever/amplifyer?

Yes it is OK to do this and yes you will get stereo sound.

You will have to turn up the volume on the nano to get this to work. The receiver is expecting a loud signal. Upping the volume will help with that.
