I have yet to be able to convert anything to work with my new iPod classic with Handbrake. Is there some setting I am missing? The videos convert fine, and are even added to iTunes, but they do not sync with the iPod.
The video should go as long as it the resolution is under 640x480. I had some old TV Shows that when set to auto cropped went out of this range and would not transfer. If I remember they had high amount of crop from either side which pushed it to something like 648x480. Make sure the final video is under 640x480.
In handbrake click on the "Show Presets" button in the top right corner. Choose iPod High-Rez if you are going to watch the video on a TV screen or iPod Low-Rez for only the iPod. Right now these are the best presets to use and work on all iPods and the Apple TV. You can still lower the bitrate if you want to lower the file size. If H.264 is too slow for you, change the Encoder to Mpeg 4, don't use the other encoders. Do not change the audio encoder, this must be in aac.
i am having an issue with an iPod classic as well.
Converted avi using hand brake...one set transferred to iPod classic, not sure how or why, but the other set didnt/wont, i don't get why, they were both converted the same way/settings ( universal). both sets show in iTunes, but one set of shows will not transfer to the iPod.
I am using handbrake 0.9.5
