• CLASSIFIED FORUM POLICY Updated May 26th, 2010

The Classifieds forum is provided by iLounge as a free 'marketplace' to buy, sell or trade Apple media devices (iPods/iPhones/iPads/tvs) or related accessories.

It is not to be used for the sale of products by or to commercial entities, as defined by the commercial forum policy found here.

    Permitted Items

    • iPods
    • iPhones
    • iPads
    • Apple TVs and related accessories
    • iPod, iPhone and iPad accessories, such as cables, cases, speakers, headphones, docks, etc.
    • Original CDs or other original recorded music formats.

Note that when listing an iPhone for sale, the seller must clearly indicate whether or not the iPhone is locked to a particular carrier, and if so which carrier the iPhone is for.

    Prohibited Items

    • Computer software of any kind.
    • Computer equipment such as laptops, desktop computers, monitors, or other peripherals that are not iPod related
    • Non-iPod handheld devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), other MP3 players/DAPs, cellular phones, or portable gaming systems, whether or not they also happen to play digital audio/video content.
    • Gift certificates/prepaid cards (e.g. iTunes Music Store or Apple Store gift cards).
    • Personally recorded media of any kind. This includes any kind of content distributed on a recordable CD/DVD, casette, diskette, or any other media format, including the content of an iPod itself. While we recognize that we cannot force a user to erase their hard drive before selling their iPod, existing content of an iPod should not be advertised as a selling point.
    • Any item or lot of items with a selling price in excess of $750 US.
    • Other items that are not directly related to the use or care of an Apple media device or related accessory

Please note that the list of items above includes items for sale as well as requests to buy, and requests for trades. If you are not allowed to sell it, you are not allowed to trade it or advertise it for trade. Any adverts for prohibited items will be removed without notice.

All members making use of this forum should exercise caution in any deals that they may decide to follow up. While 99.5% of transactions close without a problem and both parties are usually satisfied, there are those individuals who like to take advantage and use the internet as a way to scam people out of their hard earned money.

We have set up a Buyer & Seller Feedback area for positive or negative feedback on previous transactions. You are advised to check the feedback on members before commencing.

You are strongly advised to use the most secure method of payment for any item you are buying or selling. Some general advice can be found here.

If we discover that a member has been involved in any dishonest activity in the forums we will ban that person and if there is evidence of a crime we will co-operate fully with the victim and/or law enforcement agencies to assist in making sure that justice is done.

Remember, we cannot guarantee that an individual is who they say they are, nor that they have the item they are selling.

When posting items, please keep the title of your thread concise, but include sufficient details to describe what you are selling. Also please include the prefix "FS:" (For Sale), "WTB:" (Wanted To Buy) or "WTT:" (Wanted To Trade) as this lets someone browsing the list clearly see the status of an item.

Once your thread is no longer necessary (e.g. you have sold your item), please close it. There is an option to do this in the "Thread Tools" menu at the top of the thread. Only close your thread when you are sure that you no longer need it. Closed threads will automatically be moved into the Archived Classifieds forum, as will threads with no activity in 60 days or more.

    New Member Restrictions

To help reduce the number of fraudulent listings from users who clearly sign up for iLounge merely to post such listings, we have instituted a new policy on the use of the Classifieds forum by new members.

New "Freshman Loungers" will only be able to read the Classified forum and respond to existing threads and posts -- they will not be able to start their own threads offering items for sale until such time as they have reached "Regular Member" status ("Junior Lounger") which occurs after 10 posts have been made and they have been a member for at least 7 days.

  • With the number of recent threads from brand new users that we have observed in our Classifieds forum selling goods under questionable circumstances, we have instituted a new policy restricting new members of iLounge from posting new threads in the Classifieds forum until they have reached "Regular Member" status.

New users become Regular Members once they have made 10 posts and been a member of the iLounge Forums for at least 7 days. Prior to this time, members may still read the Classifieds forum, and even respond to existing threads for items being sold by other members, but they may not create new threads advertising their own items for sale.

This will hopefully help to protect our user community by discouraging fraudulent users from signing up and posting classified ads without having at least a very basic level of established membership in our forums.

Obviously all users should still exercise due diligence when making use of our classifieds forums, but we hope that this restriction will help to decrease the number of blatantly fraudulent ads that we have been seeing in recent weeks.

Please be sure to review our Classified Forum Policy for more information.

i guess i was just desperate and being cheap to order from someone that only had 1 post under their belt but i was too trusting and after the correspondence about the $ and the confirmation that he got his money he's nowhere to be found. i paid through pay-pal and have filed a claim with them but how long does it take to resolve the issue if he doesn't respond to them?

Paypal will take as long as 60-120 days to resolve a claim. Sorry you got ripped off, but when a deal is 'too good to be true,' it usually is!

Oh wow.

I was gone a grand total of ONE day from my computer due to modem problems and the buyer escalates the claim with PayPal. Is that even possible? Could you at least give me a chance to respond here, a chance that isn't shorter than one day?

Give me a break.

First of all, I have BY LAW 30 days to ship the iPod from my location to yours. You filed a claim 2 DAYS after receiving the payment because of a situation I could not control.

Instead of waiting one more day when I could get back to you, you went ahead and filed a dispute right away instead of even waiting for my response. You sent me 7 emails in the course of the two days I was without my internet access. Unfortunately some people don't sit all day on their computer desperately waiting to see if any emails come to them, and there's not much you can do when your modem goes out. Once I got my connection back I tried to explain to you what happened and that I did indeed ship your iPod out that morning.

And after that, even after you filed the dispute after 2 days, you did not even WAIT for a response from me through email or through PayPal. You went right ahead and ESCALATED THE DISPUTE TO A CLAIM, THEREFORE FREEZING MY FUNDS FOR SOMETHING I ALREADY SENT. Again, all of this was in the space of two days.

Your complaint through PayPal? "I have not received iPod and seller is not responding to my emails."

1. Of course you haven't received your iPod yet. It's been 2 days. Sending your payment does not mean that you will get your shipment right away. Apparently you haven't dealed with buying on the internet before.

2. I explained to you what happened. Some people do not sit in front of their computer all day waiting for emails to come through to their end. You'd think a sensible buyer would send an email at the most, once a day and wait and see what happened. Instead you jumped the gun and filed a dispute without even waiting for a response.

If I was a scammer I would not go through the hassle of explaining step-by-step exactly what happened on a message board. I'm doing this so you get your iPod and importantly, that I get my money for the iPod that I already sent. A little patience - is that so much to ask? Apparently not, considering you went from calm and collected to ballistic in the space of two days.

Please read over this carefully.

Sounds like you might have jumped the gun on this one automd. It is customary to wait at least a couple of weeks before you file a claim. The item in question was not even posted until 8/4/06, so at the earliest, you could have only paid for it on that day. You made your post here 6 days after. I've shipped and received many items, and 6 days is usually not enough time to receive a package, considering he probably did not ship it for a day or two (which again is acceptable).

I would recommend you cancel your claim against him promptly since it will tie up the your payment to him. I actually thought paypal had a madatory period before a claim could be filed, which is why I thought this was a problem in the first place. If a couple of weeks pass and you still have not received your item, file another claim with paypal. But considering he is defending himself on here (which scammers tend not to do), I think you will receive your item. If/when you do, you may want to consider apologizing for making things difficult for him when they need not have been.

first off moe_4eva maybe i was a little hasty in filing a claim but it's too late now because if you drop a claim with pay-pal you start it again. plus, where is the tracking number? he sent a bogus one to me and pay-pal (and no tracking number to some other people on here) and he thinks trying to belittle me on this forum is going to make me drop the claim he can forget about that, i'll just wait for money from pay-pal while he waits to get ahold of his. so he should do the right thing and either give me my money back if he doesn't plan on sending me a working ipod or send me the correct tracking number and when i receive the package in working order i'll drop the claim.
second, archurban, you don't even know what's going on so stay out of my thread instead of wasting everybody's time and just boosting your post count. MORON!

On the contrary. If you drop your claim with PayPal you always have the chance to start one again as long as it's within the 30 days from the original payment. In fact, I ENCOURAGE you to start up another claim against me if your iPod does not reach you, but do so in a reasonable time frame - NOT LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER YOUR PAYMENT.

Bogus tracking number? I don't think so. I personally verified that for you as well, as well as the tracking number which lists the EXACT SAME NAME AND ADDRESS YOU GAVE ME FOR SHIPMENT.

To the person who was questioning the slow shipment from UPS to his location - I stated in my original post that I lived in BC and Ontario, Canada as well. The Monday that I agreed to ship was a holiday by Canadian standards so there was nothing in my power to prevent the post office from being closed that day. Also Canada Customs is notoriously slow in processing shipments across the border.

And excuse me? Me trying to belittle you? I'm trying to tell you exactly what is happening but your lack of patience is causing problems for both parties involved here. I'm not going around calling people morons and accusing people of scamming with no concrete proof.

I will offer you two methods to resolve this:

(1) I'm going to refund your money. However, seeing as you placed a claim with PayPal, I do not have your funds, which means I don't have any obligation to refund anything to you. If you drop your claim with PayPal, thus placing the funds back into my account I will give that money straight back to you, I'm tired of having to deal with your whining. Otherwise have fun waiting the two months for PayPal without a guarantee at all that you're going to win the case. By the way, good luck with that, seeing as how I faxed PayPal a copy of the shipment receipt and tracking information as well.

(2) Wait for PayPal to resolve the case. They have my funds, they should decide whether it belongs to me or to you. Either way I'm not going to risk losing my iPod and you not dropping the claim after it gets to you and running off with my money. If you do decide to go this route I'm going straight to UPS, placing a recall on my iPod, and getting it back. Then we play the waiting game and see who gets the money. If you do, great, you've got your money, I've got my iPod, we're all happy. If you don't, well... that's not too good for you then is it? You know, losing a dispute, losing an iPod, and losing your money to boot.

I'm sorry for playing hardball with you, but I have made EVERY ATTEMPT at approaching you calmly and respectfully, explaining exactly what happened. I'm tired of your endless whining and you have inevitably destroyed any chance I have of doing deals on the forum in the future and having positive experiences with other users. Thanks a lot. And after all this, do you even realize it's only been 6 days since you paid me? And I'm pretty sure that was on the weekend too. Either way, this is your problem, not mine.

UM excuse me, but automd isn't overreacting, because HK sold me the smae iPod he supposedly sold to automd the same used ipod video for $170 i sent him the payment as well and he said he couldn't ship out monday because there was a holiday in canada or what not that he would ship out tuesday, and haven't heard from him since!!!! so the the guy made two deals with two different people for one product, I too have filed a paypal claim unless he sorts this out but until then paypal can handle it. Personally I just want the iPod and a little better communication, because I have yet to receive a PM explaining this situation or an email to help me understand whats going on
