I have been noticing that my battery life on my gen2 10GB is going a little sour. I have used it everyday since I purchased it in January of this year. Has anybody else had this issue. I am charging it daily lately and I used to have to charge it every other day or so. Maybe it is time to cash in that Best Buy PSP?

Todd,

I've been having that problem too. MiPod used to last a couple of days but this last week or so I'm lucky if it lasts me thru the day, i've timed it to lasting about 1hr 45mins today. only about 18 months old - gutted!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Is it possible to get a replacement battery?..

there is a possible fix in an apple knowledge base article about here somewhere. what you could try to do to boost battery life is to let the ipod completely drain until it won't even power on anymore, then leave it be for 24hrs. before recharging it again. apple says this may increase battery life for mind you ipods that gave under average battery life from begin with. if your battery life was 10hrs. at the beginning and has simply deteriorated through use, not sure if this will help. please be aware that is a fix posted by apple, so i'm not responsible for any further degradation of your battery. i remember madpict did this and was able to boost his lousy battery life somewhat.

Prithvi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave the 'leave for 24 hours' thing a go over the weekend and it didn't make any difference. I'm trying it again today in the vain hope it might work this time.

So if my battery has degraded to about 1hr 45mins playtime am i screwed? is there anyway i can get a replacement battery. and if so how much would that cost? :(

my pod is only about 18 months old and i think it's a bit sh*tty that something that set me back ?300 should have such a short shelf life.

My battery never lasted 10 hours, but I thought that was down to the old 'theoretical maximum - if you didn't touch any buttons - listened to it on low volume - and stood still in subzero temperatures' get out clause in the advertising blurb.

Help! what can i do now? I can't afford to fork out for another iPod. Out of principle for one thing....
