I woke up in Seattle this morning to a forcast of 80+ degrees F for the next couple of days following a week of pretty volatile weather. This is the first time this spring that the weather will have breached the 80 degree mark. It signals a bit of a turning point toward summer weather. As I drove to work this morning, sunroof open, I felt this immediate urge to listen to Sublime and it made me think about music that sunny weather inspires me to listen to and then conversely rainy weather.

...So my question is, if this is a factor for you, what are your 5 favorite sunny weather bands? What are your 5 favorite depressing rainy weather bands? If a specific album applies feel free to list that as well.

Sunshine:
Sublime
Bob Marley & The Wailers
The Thrills (So Much For The City)
Ozomatli
Jurassic 5

Downpour:
The Cure
The Smiths
Stone Roses (2nd Coming)
Alice in Chains (Dirt)
Black Sabbath

Hey, NiTRO--I like this thread.

Rainy:

Cranes ("Wings of Joy")
The The ("Mind Bomb")
Swans or Joy Division (many similarities)
Beethoven--Pastoral Symphony--not depressing--rain = life & happiness. Good for sunny days, too.
Kate Bush ("Hounds of Love").

Sunny:

The Beatles
Squirrel Nut Zippers
Primus
Red Hot Chili Peppers (the fast, funky stuff)
Flogging Molly (the fast, drunken, punky stuff)

Edit: I've gotta throw in U2's "The Joshua Tree" for rainy music--for some reason it always makes me think of rain.

Have to think of this one a little more, but here in Massachusetts, its been rainy and cold for the past 10 days...I'm listening to CocoRosie right now, extremely appropriate.

I don't know much about music. I learn alot from this site. Thanks everybody. Some interesting lists here, helps me get an idea about artists I'm not familiar with.

Going to work as a bike messenger on a dark rainy morning is hard. A couple song I listen to help me out the door: "Get Up Jake" by the Band and "Riders on the Storm" by the Doors.

When we had a nice sunny day and the fireroads had finally dried, the first album I listened to with my iRiver flash player was Lemon Jelly's great "Lost Horizons" album. Great riding music!

Then it started raining a lot, so I was listening to stuff like "A Northern Chorus" (another great rainy-day band) again. :(

It rains a lot here, so realistically my "rainy-day" list is a lot longer. Indie music is great for rainy-day music, and emusic is great for indie music, so I have quite a bit of that.
