> Massive Attack "Mezzanine"

Massive Attack, to chill? I have that album and I listen to it when I drive. Fast.

Good movie soundtracks for chilling:

Random Hearts
The Russia House
Forrest Gump
Contact
Saving Private Ryan (excellent music to relax with)
Thomas Crown Affair (some great jazz on this)
When Harry Met Sally
1492: Conquest of Paradise (don't ask me why, I just like it)

Of course, there are lots of "Classics for Relaxing" compilations out there .. my favorites are in the "Stress-Busters" series. Michael Jones, Calvin Jones, Jim Brickman and Liz Story are pianists I can listen to for hours and hours.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Porcelain
That's got to be one of my least favorite Chili Peppers songs ever, except possibly Dosed. Oh well. Hmm.... I guess I listen to jazz to chill out. My mom's friends with a sax player, and his band's got a cd which is alright. Otherwise, I like all the Phish stuff listed and the Postal Service. Actually though, Porcelain is a good chillout song, but it's REALLY slow. Don't listen to it on a riding lawn mower, it'll put you to sleep.;)

Some E.S. Posthumus always worked for me.

Of even Geto Boyz - Damn it feels good to be a Gangsta

Yep, Office Space kicks butt.

I would say Beatles, Jack Johnson, Enya, The Sea and Cake, Cake, Dave Matthews, and Diana Krall are good for just chilling. Oh, The Good Life and The Police are great too. Man, Steely Dan, also.

Just about anything from my "Drumz" playlist. Over 100 different "drumz" sections of concerts. Derek Trucks, Max Creek, String Cheese Incident, Grateful Dead (and more), all do a drumz section at concerts. Some of the most trance inducing rythms ever. It's incredible how dynamic some of the bits are. When I'm wide awake and ready to rock, they get me pumped, but if I want to mellow out they're awesome for just calming me too.

Hey, this is my first post :)

I'm sure somebody else must have already mentioned Sigur Rós, if i'm in a chillout mood listen to them more than anything, it's so relaxing and you dont have to concentrate on the words because they're in a kind of Icelandic language. They have to be the most beautiful sounding band, sends me to sleep. If you havn't tried them yet, i'd recommend downloading the songs "staralfur" and "Svefn-g-englar", two of my favourites, but al their songs are great.

It's also good to see portishead on a lot of peoples list, I find a lot of Radiohead is great to chillout to aswell.

Chris.

I know most of these don't fit into Chillout as a genre but the work for me:

David Sylvian - Gone to Earth
The Elected - Me First
Aimee Mann
Beck - Sea Change
Death Cab for Cutie
Esthero - Breath for Another
Iron & Wine
Talk Talk
Thievary Corporation
William Orbit
