Hey there,

I was wondering if it was possible to encode some videos for the new 5G iPod that also have chapter marks designated in them.

I hear "Handbrake" for the Mac has this feature. Are there any other applications that do this too for the PC? So far, i've been using Videora and it does not support chapters (as far as I can tell).

Even if there is a Manual (and more tedious?) way to do this on the PC, i wouldent mind hearing it. I'd like to do that for a few movies I own.

Also, would this explain why the FF/Rewind buttons dont work on the new 5G iPod? IE the FF/Rewind buttons skip chapters in video that has the chapters integrated in them? (and the scroller feature is for a more "accurate" search?)

Unless this is built-in, wouldn't this be a pain to manually look for, then insert the chapter marks for every movie u want to download?

Well,

I was kinda thinking along the lines that - as you know, regular DVDs have the chapters defined (although i do not know the spesifics as to where this information is stored). Well, let's say i Ripped a movie of mine with DVD Decryptor as a continious file (not cut up, theres a setting to do this so the film is not split up into different sizes automaticly. The FAQ to Videora explains to keep it as a continious file - or a FAQ elsewhere. I cannot remember where I read it).

Since the DVD is copied to the HDD, if the chapter settings were copied to the HDD as well, I was curious if there was a way for Videora, for example, to read that chapter information and designate chapter marks in the video automaticly during encoding. All while having one logical file.

Kinda like Audiobooks from Audible are 1 file, but you have the ability to skip chapters with the FF/RW buttons in iTunes and on the iPod!

Can you use the DVD program to export chapters as distinct and separate video files? Just a thought. It doesn't answer your question, which would be a whole lot nicer to deal with.

Yeah,

The thing about that is if i were to export and encode the chapters individually, i'd have way more video files.

Essentially, I just want to have one file (or one video to select on the iPod) and have it play the entire movie, but have the option of skipping through the chapters on the new iPod. Like i said though, i'm not certain if the iPod will actually support "Chapter Skipping".

Any thoughts?

It doesn't matter, you can't skip between chapters on the ipod.
