OK, it's time for a stupid question.

I've looked through the site, done a search but haven't found the answers I am after.

My question is this:

Can I play my 3G Nano through a 3rd party dock to a stereo?

The dock is a Cobolt iPod dock and IR remote.

Compatibility list shows only iPod Video, iPod Photo, iPod Nano (I assume they mean 1G).

I don' care if it doesn't display video/photos - that's not what I want it for - I just want it to play music through my Surround Sound system, which it currently will through RCA cables:
Ths dock has a standard iPod docking input for the iPod and then has a 3.5mm-out to RCA cable output.

My assumption is that if it's compatible with earlier docking-port style iPods, it'll be compatible with the 3G.

FYI - this thing is CHEAP! that's why I'm interested...and it has a remote, which is handy.

It should be compatible with the adapter that came with your Nano. I am using my Mini's cable to sync my 3rd gen nano.

I would wait for an actual owner of the device to respond to make sure. Have you tried looking at reviews of the device at Amazon or another shopping site? You may find your answer there as well.

I bit the bullet and bought it (figuring I could on-sell it if it wasn't compatible).

As it turns out - It's perfect.

I looked all over the interbabelfish, but couldn't find a single reference to the exact model that I have bought, so I assume it's a NZ-only thing.

Sound is good, it can be either a stereo dock or a computer dock and it'll charge the iPod if the USB cable is plugged in.

I am happy.
