I have developed a cheap but stylish cardboard case for the shuffle. It is meant to be truly individual, because every skin.shuffle _you_ select the printed cardboard for from sixpacks, sweets boxes or anything you find attractive. I think this is cooler than making your shuffle 'individual' by buying something that thousands of other people own aswell.

I put the instructions and the layout on www.skinshelf.de in the extras! section.

Hope you like it and I would love to see what you come up with!

Thought I had the pic attached...
Seems I can't attach it because I'm not an 'established' member. I would greatly appreciate it if a moderaor could fix this for my post. The image URL is www skinshelf.de/fileadmin/_temp_/skin.shuffle.composite.jpg
and in my previous post maybe you can fix the skinshelf URL?

Thanks!

your URLs dont work because you forgot the "." after "www". you can fix this yourself, theres an "edit" button on the right hand side.

i dont know about attatching pictures, but theres a "trick" to putting pictures in posts here for some reason. heres how you do it:

{img=www.skinshelf.de/fileadmin/_temp_/skin.shuffle.composite.jpg}{/img}
(but use square brackets "[" instead of {)

Thanks for your reply and for posting the image. I am not able to include URLs in my posts because I am a new member to the forums. So I removed the '.' on purpose so people still know where to get the files.

I'm making one out of a Wheat Thins box right now. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get the front hole cut into something even resembling a circle without a great deal of effort. Any tips?

You are right, that is pretty much the most difficult thing about it. And it is important you put some care in because it is so visible.
The scalpel works pretty good. The blade will bend a bit so you can get a decent curvature. It takes a bit of time though.

Nice work!

How do I view the English version of your site? It says for english, click top menu, but I don't see that anywhere. Also, is it possible to make a shuffle skin from playing cards?

Thanks

Johan, I don't suppose you'd be willing to share a blank pattern as an image file, instead of just the PDF, would you? I'd like to try printing some of these on some card stock...

I'm sorry for having linked to the German version. This is fixed now. Thanks for pointing it out.

GreatGraySkwid, I have converted the PDF into a PNG now aswell. Just make sure that whatever program you use to print it, that it keeps its scale (the PNG is 9.7 x 15.4 cm / 3.8 x 6.1 inches). If it works please post a pic (that's why I shared it, after all, to see other people use it :)

why don't you just try it kate. It's not very hard, esp. if you use thin cardboard for your first skin.shuffle. Just take your time, the first one I did took me roughly an hour w/ printing and glueing. And when you're done you can show it off in public ;)

Alrighty, tried one last night with mixed results. The pattern worked great, but there was some damage at the creases, as you can see:

[/img]

I made that one from two-ply card stock, which I think was overkill and also made both clean cuts and hard creases more difficult (even with deep scoring. I just did a two-sided print with a slightly cleaned up image on a single sheet of card stock, which I think will work better. I might also use some spray clear-coat, or perhaps just artist's fixative, before I fold and glue the next version.
